All Natural Himalayan salt for horses, cattle and deer

About Himalayan Koh

Purity From the Source, Integrity in Every Grain

Authentic Himalayan pink rock salt, inspected, packed, and dispatched from Houston, Texas.

Coarse unrefined pink Himalayan salt crystals

Authentic Salt Sourced for Gourmet & Agricultural Excellence

Himalayan pink salt was deposited over 250 million years ago during the Precambrian era as ancient ocean beds evaporated. Protected beneath tectonic mountain strata in Pakistan's Salt Range, this mineral deposit remained shielded from modern industrial pollutants.

At Himalayan Koh, we preserve this natural geological mineral in its unrefined state. We never chemically bleach, strip, or alter our salt crystals. What the rock naturally holds — essential sodium chloride balanced with trace minerals like iron, potassium, and magnesium — is exactly what reaches your home or farm.

We supply salt the way chefs, ranchers, and families actually use it: fine grain for balanced culinary seasoning, medium for table grinders, coarse crystals for brining, and weather-hardy blocks for equine and livestock herds.

Naturally occurring trace minerals including iron, potassium, and magnesium
Unrefined — no anti-caking chemicals, artificial bleaches, or synthetic additives
Precise grain sizing: fine, medium, coarse, plus carved salt blocks and licks
Moisture-protective packaging dispatched directly from Houston, Texas
Our Standards

What Natural Unrefined Salt Retains

Authentic mineral composition tailored for specific culinary and agricultural needs.

Natural Trace Elements

Ancient geological seams preserve natural trace minerals, giving each crystal its authentic rose-pink hue.

Characteristic Iron Minerals

Natural mineral veins produce tones from light peach to deep ruby. No artificial dyes or bleaching agents.

Uniform Grain Sorting

Carefully screened for consistency: fine for culinary baking, medium for table grinders, and coarse for curing.

Zero Chemical Additives

100% natural unrefined rock salt. Free of artificial anti-caking agents (such as sodium ferrocyanide or aluminosilicate).

Durable & Non-Perishable

Naturally resistant to spoilage when stored in dry conditions, providing lasting stability for kitchens and ranches.

Kitchen & Pasture Uses

Food-grade crystals for the kitchen, and dense mineral blocks for livestock herds.

Direct Origin

Geological Sourcing from the Khewra Salt Range

Our Himalayan rose pink salt originates from the ancient Khewra salt mines, situated in the foothills of the Salt Range in Punjab, Pakistan. We work directly with licensed mining partners who practice ethical extraction and traditional craftsmanship.

Upon maritime arrival in the United States, every batch is received at our facility in Houston, Texas. Our team conducts physical inspections for moisture barriers, granulometry consistency, and purity before packaging into sealed, food-safe containers.

We welcome wholesale, retail distribution, and bulk commercial inquiries. Our full quality-assurance framework and laboratory protocols are set out below.

Quality & Sourcing

Quality, Sourcing & Verification Standards

Ethical geological extraction in Pakistan, transatlantic shipping, rigorous incoming inspection, and Houston warehouse packing protocols.

Geological Provenance & Mining Ethics

All Himalayan pink salt distributed by Himalayan Koh originates from the Salt Range of northern Punjab, Pakistan — principally the historic Khewra mining region, in the Jhelum district. These subterranean formations are the remnants of the ancient Tethys Sea, which evaporated in the late Precambrian to early Cambrian periods more than 250 million years ago, and were then uplifted and sealed beneath hundreds of metres of protective rock — sheltering the salt from surface pollutants, microplastics and modern industrial effluent.

We work only with licensed and vetted operators who use traditional room-and-pillar extraction, which keeps the workings stable without the explosive blasting that can fracture the crystal structure. The miners and artisans who cut, carve and grade our salt work in safe, ventilated conditions and are fairly compensated.

Supplier Vetting & Traceability

  • Facility auditing: processing facilities must operate dedicated sorting areas with stainless-steel handling and optical sorting tables to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Hygiene & PPE: handlers must follow strict sanitation practices during grading, milling and bagging.
  • Chain of custody: every container is tracked from the mine head to Port Qasim, Karachi, with verified bills of lading, customs declarations and phytosanitary clearance.

Houston Receiving & Quality Verification

Moisture & Seal Integrity

Bulk bags and consumer containers are checked for transit moisture barriers. Anything showing condensation, a compromised seal or carton damage is quarantined.

Granulometry Calibration

Milled grains undergo mechanical sieve testing to verify mesh size: Fine (0.5–1.0 mm), Medium (1.0–3.0 mm) and Coarse (3.0–6.0 mm).

Physical & Visual Assay

Crystals are evaluated on clean inspection surfaces under high-lumen illumination for clean translucency and absence of foreign debris.

Structural Integrity of Blocks

Solid licks and cooking blocks are inspected for compressive strength, drilled rope-hole symmetry and the absence of micro-fractures.

Packaging & Climate-Controlled Storage

Sodium chloride is hygroscopic: it absorbs ambient moisture, and in a humid climate that means clumping, dissolution and package degradation. Our packaging holds the moisture out:

  • Retail pouches: multi-layer barrier laminates with an airtight closure.
  • Culinary jars: heavyweight jars sealed with tamper-evident induction liners.
  • Commercial 45 lb bags: heavy-gauge woven sacks with an internal polyethylene liner, built for agricultural handling and freight.
  • Pasture salt licks: weatherproof wrap around durable natural jute ropes, arriving ready for stable or paddock mounting.

Understanding Natural Mineral Claims

  • Predominant composition: pink Himalayan salt is primarily sodium chloride, typically 96%–98% NaCl by dry weight.
  • Trace elements: the remaining 2%–4% is naturally occurring mineral compounds — iron oxide (which gives the rose, coral and amber colour), calcium, magnesium, potassium and trace sulfate.
  • Parts-per-million realities: the majority of the additional elements reported by spectroscopy are present at ppm or ppb levels. They give the salt its flavour and colour; salt should not be eaten in excess to chase a mineral target.

Lab report / COA available on request

We maintain documented lot tracing with our exporter network and are consolidating third-party spectroscopic results and heavy-metal screening (lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury) into an online portal. Wholesale, feedlot and food-service partners needing lot-specific Certificates of Analysis or specification sheets should contact sales@himalayankoh.com.

Testimonials

What our customers say

“The Sam Houston Equestrian Center began to use Himalayan salt licks with the horses that were prone to chronic colic. After about 2 months the horses had less digestive issues. They readily consumed the salt and we are on our fourth shipment.”

Helen Peters, Program Director

Sam Houston Equestrian Center, Houston, TX

“My name is Darolyn Butler, and my ranch, Cypress Trails Equestrian Center, is near Humble, TX. I have a herd of 70 horses; they all work in my trail ride business and over half are also trained for endurance competition. All of the horses, considering our heat here in South Texas, need an excellent supply of salt, and I have been feeding it for about 15 months. I believe my horses are the healthier and able to thrive in this Texas heat due to this change to Himalayan Koh salt.”

“Just wanted to let everyone know how great the Himalayan Koh team has been to work with. Not only are they very knowledgeable about all the advantages of Himalayan salt, but their products are by far the best salt blocks we have purchased for our deer ranch.”
